Google Ocean uncovers the lost city of Atlantis?

A number of major online media sources are today claiming that Atlantis has been discovered 620 miles off the west coast of Africa. Using images from Google Ocean the pictures quite clearly depict a grid of lines the size of Wales.

Plato described Atlantis as being in front of the Pillars of Hercules (the Straits of Gibraltar), so this location would fit perfectly with his words.

Curator of historical archaeology at New York State University, Dr Charles Orser, described the find as fascinating and warranted further inspection. “The site is one of the most prominent places for the proposed location of Atlantis, as described by Plato,” he said. “Even if it turns out to be geographical, it definitely deserves a closer look.”

I had a good look at the location on Google Earth, and noticed that beyond the main grid network there are a number of lines, some of which run all the way to nearby islands (possible mountain ranges in the time of Atlantis). Could these lines be roads or rail networks?
