The article writing scam

Tag: Scams10:03 pm

One of the most popular outsourcing aspects of web development is article writing. For what it may cost to have an article well written in Europe or North America you can find a similar service at a fraction of the price from other countries such as India and the Philippines. For certain projects I have used such services and have always been satisfied with the quality, turnaround time and pleasant attitude of those doing the work. So I was recently saddened to learn of a scam where articles writers are getting blatantly ripped off.

How the scam works

The scammer sets up multiple accounts on freelance sites like Getafreelancer and then approaches article writers with a view to using their services. Once the articles are completed and sent to the buyer for payment they suddenly vanish. Although you can file a dispute on such cases it barely matters if the scammer is just moving from one fake id to another.

What to do if you’ve been scammed

If you are an article writer and this happens to you I would suggest publishing the articles elsewhere on the net as soon as possible and then regularly check on copyscape to see if the articles have been published on another site. If they have then contact the site owner and explain the situation. It may be that they have bought the articles in good faith from the scammer, or it could be the scammer whose running the site.

If you get no response threaten them with legal action, contact their hosting company and report them to google. You could also post the facts on popular forums so others are aware of the scam.

By using escrow this will not happen. We recommend our users to use our escrow system when paying members. If the provider get any problem he can just file a dispute and the escrow will be released based on evidences.

Are you kidding? You deserve what has happened to you. The types of writers you are selecting do not produce quality work. You are equally responsible for the utter tripe that has ended up on the Net. I am happy to hear that someone of your bottom dwelling status has been ripped off … you reap what you sow.
