I must have had about 10 phone calls tring to coax me into this scam. It always starts off with the same message. “This is your captain speaking.” Well last week I stayed on the line and a rather surly sounding lady took a few details off me, name and phone number and said somebody would be in touch to tell me if I’d won a free cruise to the Bahamas. This morning I received a phone call from Pauletta Denny.

Pauletta was very cheerful and friendly and seemed like she wanted to really share in my joy of winning a free cruise. She enthused about how wonderful the Bahamas was and went through the details.

Just one catch. The only thing I would have to pay for is the Immigration tax to the Bahamas. I can’t remember the exact figure now because I just laughed and hung up. I then did a little search online and found a number of sites reporting this scam.

The most interesting article I cam across was by Dan Lambert, an ex employee of Ramada Plaza Resorts, a timeshare company that treat their employees badly and use very unethical selling practices.
