December 19 Boycott Youtube Day

Tag: Videos, Web2:20 pm

The purpose of this video is to raise awareness of the new policies that YouTube has implemented - such as algorithmic demotion of videos that contain profanities. These policies will no doubt remove our freedom speech on YouTube because the policies are so vague that they could be used to demote any video that YouTube personally doesn’t like.

Internet Explorer under attack

Tag: Web11:27 am

ie7logo Internet Explorer under attackMost people still use Internet Explorer as their browser of choice, but users have now been advised to switch to another, more safer option. Interent experts have advised that there is a serious flaw in IE7 which could allow hackers to take control of people’s PC’s and gain valuable information such as passwords.

In a security advisory alert Microsoft said, “Microsoft is continuing its investigation of public reports of attacks against a new vulnerability in Internet Explorer.”

Trend Micro, the antivirus software maker, recently warned that as many as 10,000 websites have been compromised since last week alone.

Darien Graham-Smith, security editor at PC Pro magazine’s, said that hackers are always on the look out for new possible vulnerabilities.

“The message needs to get out that this malicious code can be planted on any web site, so simple careful browsing isn’t enough,” he said. “It’s a shame Microsoft have not been able to fix this more quickly, but letting people know about this flaw was the right thing to do. If you keep flaws like this quiet, people are put at risk without knowing it.”

“Every browser is susceptible to vulnerabilities from time to time,” he added. “It’s fine to say ‘don’t use Internet Explorer’ for now, but other browsers may well find themselves in a similar situation.”
