This cute and cheeky url shortener has just launched and Highena’s just grabbed his custom 0ba.be url – http://0ba.be/fun. What I like about this url shortener is that it’s not only simple and easy to use, the name is very eye-catching. I’m sure when posting 0ba.be links to facebook and Twitter, or texting by phone, an 0ba.be url has that stand-out clickable effect.
eg: I took this insanely long url: http://highena.com/web/50-facebook-status-updates-quotes/comment-page-2/#comment-17238 – which would just look messy as a Facebook status, and would have trouble fitting on twitter or in a text – and made it into http://0ba.be/fb
I can see these cute personalized urls getting snapped up quickly. Have you got your 0ba.be url yet?

Russian scientists have began work on a giant ark, which is designed to be habitable in any of the earth’s environments. It can be in the sea, the desert, even Antartica. The huge pod is completely self-sufficent, from waste disposal, recycling, electricity heating, lighting and food growth.
The concept is obviously designed so man can withstand any environment. With many convinced the world will come to an end on the 21st December 2012, is this the Russian’s way of preparing for it?

I’ve had the Wibiya toolbar running for about 24 hours now, and although I can’t yet say whether it’s having a negative or positive impact I have to say there’s a number of things which are really cool about this tool. So here’s my review…
I was expecting it to be a lot more difficult to install than it actually was. You just quickly go through the basic settings on Wibiya then install a plugin as you normally would in WordPress. You can then configure the toolbar in the Wibiya admin, aadding which apps you want, then dragging and dropping the icons to where you want them to appear along the toolbar.
Socially I’m sure it will engage users more, so it will be interesting to see if people are remaining on the site any longer in a few weeks, and if there’s more of an increase in fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter.
My biggest – and perhaps only – concern is that it may distract people too much and divert attention away from the content and advertising. That said, for sites which cry out for more interactivity between social networks and live chat this is the perfect tool to have.
Although Wibiya may not be the first to attempt the website toolbar they certainly seemed to have cracked the functionality and ease of installation where others failed.
